Auction of Harry Teeters Ditch

The Schrader Auction Company on Thursday October 23 will conduct an estate auction of land adjoining the 850E entrance to Clear Lake. The auction will take place at 6:30pm at the St. Paul Catholic Chapel.

This land is of interest to Clear Lake because it is part of the Clear Lake watershed. Water flowing through these parcels may carry runoff fertilizer and/or other farming chemicals from many acres of farmland on the South side of Road 120. This water empties into Clear Lake at the public launch site. This farmland drainage system is commonly known as Harry Teeter's Ditch and is shown on the diagrams below.

Tract 2 (shown below) is of particular interest because its stand of timber moderates and filters the runoff draining into Clear Lake from the adjoining farm. Removing the trees may adversely affect the water quality of the Lake.
